Peveril Castle
Peveril Castle stands in an impregnable position on a clifftop above Castleton has sufficient ruined remains to construct a good idea of how the castle looked in its heyday. It is now in the care of English Heritage.
Works successfully carried out by Croft at Peveril Castle include:-
- Internal alterations of the existing Cottage to form New Visitor Facilities including the conversion of the ground floor to provide a shop and ticket office and the first floor to provide toilets and interpretation area, with installation of a platform lift and associated mechanical and electrical services.
- External alterations to the Cottage to provide a new access ramp to the front, replacement of windows, removal of render, re-pointing, new canopy, minor repairs to the roof and associated paving.
- Hard and soft landscaping to the rear garden of the Cottage.
- Demolition and removal of the ticket office below the Castle and associated work to the path.
